Of the Bits and Bobs Enclosed

There are many forces in opposition in this world that need reconciling in our lives—chaos and order, edge and centre, ocean and mountain, desert and garden, the right and the left hemisphere, to name a few. All that I write here attempts in some way to explore the strange idea of being both at home and in exile. This overture might be a good place to start.

My exploration of this theme began with a fantasy series that I have been working on for some years, Flames of the Exiled, which is why another goal I have here is to stir up a little excitement among a few folks to wade into that story when the time comes to release it. If plunging into a world full of old monsters, fey magic and thrilling mystery sounds like a good idea to you, then stick around and check out some of the bits and bobs I'm preparing to post.

These are the extracts from Flames of the Exiled that I’ve already posted, and the order in which they might be read:

  1. Note: The Story Enclosed

  2. Prelude to Silent Skies

  3. Chapter One: Candle and Moon

And this is the full, five-part prequel novella that tells an epic backstory to the main series—for those of you looking for about an hour and a half of high fantasy reading:

If you’re after poetry, take a look at one of these:

I’m glad you’re here. Happy reading.

PS. That’s me, heading down a steep, narrow way in the West Arthurs of Tasmania—back in 2021. Much of the inspiration for my writing emerges out of these journeys into the wilderness. Won’t you follow me down? Let me show you this wonderous thing I found—out here where exiles might finally begin to feel homeward bound …
