Of the Bits and Bobs Enclosed
There are many forces in opposition in this world that need reconciling in our lives — chaos and order, edge and centre, ocean and mountain, desert and garden, the right and the left hemisphere, to name a few. All that I write here attempts in some way to explore the strange idea of being both at home and in exile. This overture might be a good place to start.
My exploration of this theme began with a fantasy series that I have been working on for some years, Flames of the Exiled, which is why another goal I have here is to stir up a little excitement among a few folks to wade into that story when the time comes to release it. If plunging into a world full of old monsters, fey magic and thrilling mystery sounds like a good idea to you, then stick around and check out some of the bits and bobs I'm preparing to post.
These are the extracts from Flames of the Exiled that I’ve already posted, and the order in which they might be read:
And this is the full, five-part prequel novella that tells an epic backstory to the main series—for those of you looking for about an hour and a half of high fantasy reading:
If you’re after poetry, take a look at one of these:
Wilson’s Promontory (inspired by a hike on the south coast of Australia)
Celestial Creek (a poetic reflection on a little self-exile in the Great Dividing Range)
The Orb- and the Elfin-Weaver (or The Elfin World of Spiderwebs in the Moss)
Ballad of a Broken Bell (a tale of Arthurian alchemy)
I’m glad you’re here. Happy reading.
